Rewind festival ploughing on despite coronavirus uncertainty

Retro music lovers have been given a much-needed boost with news that Rewind Scotland festival is still scheduled to go ahead this summer.

Organisers of the 80’s nostalgia fest have confirmed they are pushing on with plans for the event at Scone Palace, Perthshire, from 17 -19 July, despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The statement comes after a number of high profile events have been cancelled later this year due to the uncertainity over how long the current lockdown will be in place.

Cancelled festivals include Radio One’s Big Weekend in Dundee in late May and and Glastonbury in June.

However, another Scottish festival which is also sticking to its plans for a summer event is TRNSMT in Glasgow, set for July 10 – 12.

A spokesperon for Rewind said: “In this strange time we find ourselves in, we are daily having to make difficult decisions about how we live our lives and making sacrifices for the benefit of other people.

“However, we also recognise that we all need something to look forward to when it’s over, with this in mind we are carrying on with the Rewind Festivals.

“Obviously everyone’s safety is paramount, and we will of course abide by government recommendations, but if there is a chance we can deliver the festivals, then we will.

“Keep safe and we will keep you updated.”

The festival has already announced headline acts including Wet Wet Wet, Billy Ocean, Altered Images, Hue and Cry and Bananarama.

More than 15,000 people attended Rewind last year.
