A road in Dundee has been closed following an early morning house fire.

Emergency services were called to a dwelling fire on Byron Street at around 7.10 on Friday.

Two fire engines have been sent to the scene and Brantwood Avenue and Lawton Road have been closed by police.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Byron Street in Dundee is closed between Brantwood Avenue and Lawton Road following a report of a fire.

“Emergency services are in attendance.

“Please avoid the area. Enquiries are ongoing.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 7.10am on Friday, October 31, to reports of a dwelling fire on Byron Street, Dundee.

“Operations Control has mobilised two appliances to the scene, where crews remain in attendance as they work to make the area safe.”
