Road reopened following discovery of woman's body at roundabout in Dyce, Aberdeen

Police have reopened a road in Aberdeen after a woman’s body was discovered near a roundabout on Saturday.

Jill Barclay, 47, was found near an address on Stoneywood Road in Dyce at around 3.30am on Saturday.

An investigation into Ms Barclay’s death is under way.

On Sunday, police revealed a 22-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with her death.

The area surrounding Stoneywood Road and Victoria Street was locked down following the discovery and has since reopened.

Forensic and uniformed officers were pictured at the scene while a large cordon was erected during the initial investigation.

The force indicated its enquiries will be ongoing “for some time” in the area to establish the circumstances of what happened.

In a statement, Ms Barclay’s family said: “Jill was a deeply loved life partner, mother and daughter,” they said.

“We would now appreciate being left in peace to grieve privately.”

Detective superintendent Andrew Patrick of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team asked anyone who may have information about the incident to contact them.

“Our thoughts are very much with Jill’s family and friends at what is a very difficult time for them,” he said.

“We have a dedicated team of officers in the area working on this investigation and I would like to reassure the community that they can speak to them if they have any concerns.

“I am appealing to anyone who say anything suspicious in the area who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.
