A teacher at a top private school in Aberdeen is feared to have died in a climbing accident.
Owain Bristow, head of biology at Robert Gordon’s College, has been missing since falling into water while rock climbing on Friday.
Rescuers from the RNLI and Coastguard were sent out to search for Mr Bristow near the Bullers of Buchan.
But on Monday the school shared it’s “deep sadness” after learning the weekend search had been unsuccessful.
Lessons have been cancelled, although the school has remained open.
A spokesman for the college said: “The Robert Gordon’s community is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic climbing accident near Bullers of Buchan, Peterhead, involving Mr Owain Bristow, head of biology, on Friday evening.
“During his time at RGC Mr Bristow inspired many of our pupils, staff and former pupils.
“The college is coming to terms with this devastating news and he will be greatly missed by us all.”
