VisitScotland Mat HayAn outdoor sauna has gone viral on social media with a video featuring a dip into a chilly Scots loch.
The 15-second point-of-view clip takes viewers around the Taymouth Marina and some of what the outdoor spa has to offer, including a hotbox sauna and going down the Loch Tay slide.
It has attracted over 5.6 million views across Instagram and TikTok, becoming VisitScotland’s most viral social media post to date, and even sparked a boost in bookings for the Perthshire business.
A part of VisitScotland’s ongoing efforts to promote Scotland as a year-round destination, the viral clip comes amid a growing demand for wellness experiences.
VisitScotland recently identified “Outdoor Therapy” as one of Scotland’s top travel trends for 2025, reflecting the rising appeal of wellness in nature.
VisitScotland Mat HayThe national tourism organisation says Scotland’s outdoors offers “abundant opportunities for mind and body rejuvenation”, comprising experiences such as outdoor yoga classes, water wellness, stargazing, and outdoor or wild saunas.
Wild saunas have become increasingly popular, with searches rising by 639% since 2023, with a range of experiences to be found across the country, including Perthshire, Shetland, Fife, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.
