The Scottish SPCA is running low on newspapers at its Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.
The charity is appealing for donations to help line the enclosures of the small and exotic animals in its care.
Centre manager Louise Griese said: “Newspaper is a great material to use as a base for cages to catch the inevitable mishaps.
“We also use newspaper as bedding for new arrivals of exotic animals. They can’t burrow into it, so is a great way for us to monitor them easily.”
Unfortunately, the centre cannot accept magazines or papers with staples in them as these could be harmful to the animals.
Ms Griese added: “Donating old newspapers will allow us to keep all our small and exotic animals in a clean and hygienic environment while they wait to find their forever homes.
“Papers do need to be bagged up before being put in the donation bins outside our centre.
“If anyone can spare any old newspapers – our animals aren’t fussy between tabloid and broadsheet – then please drop them off in a secured bag in the donation bin outside our centre.”
Items can be dropped off at the Scottish SPCA, Drumoak, Banchory, AB31 5AJ.
