The search for a missing woman swept away by flooding in the River Don has resumed.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Monymusk around 3.20pm on Friday after reports of concern for a person in the water.
The woman was trying to rescue a dog amid severe rainfall and weather warnings.
The search was stood down by Aberdeen Coastguard around 6pm on Friday after the conditions of the river were assessed.
Police, crews from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and the coastguard confirmed searches are continuing on Saturday morning.
Inspector Rory Campbell said: “Officers, along with colleagues from the SFRS and the Coastguard, have resumed searches in the area where the woman was last seen.
“Conditions are tricky and dangerous and I am appealing to members of the public to stay away from flooded areas. Please be careful when you are out and about.”
