Second teenager killed in Moray e-bike crash with four cars named as Gregor Booth

A second teenager killed in a crash involving an electric motorbike and four cars has been named locally as Gregor Booth.

The 16-year-old Elgin Academy pupil was a pillion on a Sur-ron e-bike, alongside 17-year-old Marcus Beck, when it was involved in a crash with four cars on the A941 Lossiemouth to Elgin road on Monday, March 25.

The 14-year-old rider of the bike was seriously injured and rushed to hospital, alongside the driver of a blue Vauxhall Mokka.

Moray Council said special assemblies have been held to support pupils following the incident.

Chief education officer, Vivienne Cross, said: “Our thoughts at this time are very much with the families of the young people who lost their lives.

“Our Educational Psychology team and School Chaplains have been supporting school pupils affected throughout this difficult time. Special assemblies have been held and guidance and support staff are available to pupils and staff as the whole school community takes time to come to terms with the tragic news.

“We have an established pathway to offer support and will continue to offer this to those impacted.”

The family of Marcus Beck said the teenager would be “missed so very much”.

In a statement shared by Police Scotland, they said: “Marcus was a young man who loved going out and about with his mates.

“He will be missed so very much by all of his family and his friends.

“We cannot begin to explain what a shock this has been for everyone and we would like time to be able to come to terms with what has happened.”

The 14-year-old rider remains in hospital in a stable condition while the 54-year-old driver of the Mokka has since been released following treatment.

No one else was injured as a result of the incident, which also involved a red Renault Clio, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a white VW Golf.

The road was closed for 14 hours for crash investigation work to be carried out.

Sergeant Iain Nicholson said: “Our thoughts remain with the families and friends of all involved. This is an incident that has also affected the fwider community at what is a very upsetting and difficult time for all.

“Our investigation into the crash is ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who has not already spoken to officers and who could help with our enquiries to come forward.

“If you information, such as dash-cam, or saw anything at the time of the crash that could assist officers then please get in touch.”
