A single mother has been jailed after she was caught with cocaine worth more than £110,000 on the streets and a recipe for producing crack.
Alisha Bain was seen by police officers, who were conducting surveillance, driving into her home street in Aberdeen, before she approached a van carrying a bag.
The bag was handed in through the passenger window of the vehicle before it was returned to Bain, who went to her address.
Officers later carried out a search at her home and found quantities of cocaine and heroin in the premises, along with a tick list which contained instructions for making crack cocaine.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard that the cocaine recovered during the police operation had a maximum value of £113,580, and the heroin was worth £4,670 if sold as tenner deals. More than £3,000 in cash was also found in the property.
Police also searched the van and found a bundle of cash under the driver’s seat. The bundle contained £9,950, and around it was a hair band with Bain’s DNA on it.
Advocate depute Lisa Gillespie KC told the court that Bain was a single parent who has two previous convictions for offences, but has never served a jail sentence.
Bain, 34, admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drugs cocaine and heroin on December 20, 2024, at her home address and elsewhere, when she appeared in court.
Both drug charges were aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime.
Defence counsel Bill Adam said Bain has worked all her adult life and was employed as a hospital ward assistant. He said: “She will now lose that job.”
He said she was unaware of the extent to which the criminal organisation was involved in drug dealing.
A judge told Bain: “You should be in no doubt these are serious offences.”
Lady Ross deferred sentence on her for the preparation of a background report and remanded her in custody.
Bain was served with papers as the Crown has brought a proceeds of crime action against her in a bid to confiscate illegal profits.
