Six residents at an Aberdeen care home have died with suspected coronavirus.
The Care Inspectorate said it was aware of the deaths at Kingswells Care Home.
The watchdog – which oversees the care sector in Scotland – said its thoughts were with the “loved ones of those affected as well as the staff and wider community of the home”.
A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: “We are aware of the tragic deaths of residents at this care home as a result of suspected cases of Covid-19.
“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of those affected as well as the staff and wider community of the home.
“We have been notified of the circumstances and we are in contact with the care service and the local health and social care partnership during this difficult time.
“All of Scotland’s social care sector is working tirelessly under very difficult circumstances to care for people during the pandemic and the Care Inspectorate is doing all it can to support them.”
Bon Accord Care runs the home on behalf of Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership.
A spokesman for Aberdeen City HSCP confirmed robust infection control measures are in place at the home.
Figures published by the National Records of Scotland revealed last week that a quarter of all coronavirus-linked deaths in Scotland have occurred in care homes.
On Monday, West Dunbartonshire Council revealed it had suspended all new admissions to Crosslet House in Dumbarton following 15 deaths at the multi-million pound care home in less than a month.
