A major search is under way for a man trapped in a vehicle in floodwater.
The incident was reported near the Aberdeenshire village of Marykirk where a red warning is in place for extreme weather.
The alarm was raised around 3am on Friday morning.
A Coastguard helicopter and coastal rescue teams are involved in the multi-agency hunt.
Police have asked the public to avoid the area due to safety concerns as the search continues.
It comes after a 57-year-old woman died after being swept into a river in Angus while more than 400 homes in the area were asked to evacuate.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3am on Friday, October 20, 2023, police received a report of a man within a vehicle trapped in floodwater near Marykirk.
“Multi-agency searches are ongoing and the public are asked to avoid the area for their safety.”
