A stretch of the A96 has been closed in both directions following a collision between three cars.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash near Huntly, Aberdeenshire, shortly before 6.40pm on Thursday.
Police have advised that the road has been closed in both directions while emergency services remain at the scene.
It is unknown at this stage if there are any fatalities.
Drivers are being urged to find alternative routes at this time.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The A96 is currently closed near Huntly following a serious road crash involving three vehicles.
“Emergency services are in attendance and enquiries are continuing.
“Local diversions are in place and people are being advised to avoid the area.”
