A suspect arrested in connection with a serious assault that left a man fighting for his life in Elgin has been released from custody.
The incident occurred outside a business premises on the town’s Harrow Inn Close area at around 3.15pm on Friday.
Emergency services attended, and a 55-year-old was taken to hospital where medical staff described his condition as critical but stable.
Police confirmed on Sunday that a 28-year-old man has been arrested.
He has since been released pending further enquiries. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 28-year-old man arrested in connection with a serious assault in Elgin has been released pending further enquiries.
“Around 3.15pm on Friday, November 14, 2025, we received a report of a disturbance in the Harrow Inn Close area. Emergency services attended and a 55-year-old man was taken to hospital.
“Medical staff describe his condition as stable.
“The investigation remains ongoing.”
