A teenage girl has admitted attacking another pupil with a knife at an Aberdeen secondary school.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, repeatedly struck a 12-year-old girl with the blade at Hazlehead Academy in Aberdeen on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
The victim was seriously injured and permanently disfigured in the attack that endangered her life.
She was taken to the Children’s Hospital in Aberdeen for treatment.
The attacker admitted two charges at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday, April 23, almost a year since the incident.
STV NewsThe victim’s father said schools should be safe and that no parent, child or teacher should ever expect to have to deal with the prospect of attacks with weapons.
“Our daughter was significantly affected by this attack and her recovery remains our ongoing priority,” he said in a statement.
“We are at least pleased to see the pupil who attacked her has admitted the wrongdoing at the earliest chance and we now trust officials to take all appropriate steps to help keep our schools safe.”
The attacker, who was 14 at the time of the incident, will appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date to be sentenced.
