A teenager has been left fighting for his life after being struck by a van near Aberdeen.
The 18-year-old pedestrian was on the A90 southbound and the A944 junction when he was hit by a white Mercedes Sprinter just outside Kingswells village in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene just before 2am and the teenager was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where medical staff have described his injuries as life-threatening.
Police are now investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses in a bid to establish the full circumstances.
Road Policing Sergeant Steve Manson said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash or who may have seen either the pedestrian or the vehicle prior to the incident to get in touch.
“I would also ask anyone with dashcam footage which may assist our investigation to contact us.
“Anyone with any information is urged to contact 101, quoting incident 0425 of 29 May.”
The road was closed for around 12 hours to allow for an investigation at the scene.
The driver of the van was uninjured.
