Teenager appears in court on charge of attempted murder

A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital following a 'disturbance' in Cummings Park Crescent on Saturday evening.

A teenager has appeared alongside a 46-year-old in court after being charged with the attempted murder of a man in Aberdeen.

Police were called to Cummings Park Crescent after a 30-year-old was allegedly assaulted at around 9.15pm on Saturday.

The man was taken to hospital following the incident. His current condition is unknown.

A 17-year-old boy and a 46-year-old man were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

They appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday.

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced charges of assault to severe injury, attempted murder, and of carrying an offensive weapon.

The man, John James Watt, was charged with assault only.

Both were released on bail committed for further examination.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.15pm on Saturday, March 25, 2023, police received a report of a disturbance in Cummings Park Crescent, Aberdeen.

“Officers attended and a 30-year-old man, who had been injured in the disturbance, was taken to hospital.

“Two males, aged 17 and 46, have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.”
