A 24-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering a grandmother in Aberdeen.
Sherry Bruce, 58, was found seriously injured within a property on the city’s Glenbervie Road at around 5.30pm on Sunday.
Emergency services attended but she died at the scene.
A 26-year-old man was also injured during the incident and he is receiving treatment at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Thai Hoang, known as Beaton, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Tuesday charged with Ms Bruce’s murder. He also faces a separate charge of attempted murder.
Hoang made no plea and was remanded in custody. The case was committed for further examination and Hoang will appear again within the next eight days.
Ms Bruce’s family say she will be “sorely missed”.
In a statement issued through Police Scotland, the said: “She was a kind and caring mum with a soft heart who adored everyone she met.
“She was very family oriented and devoted to her job. She was loyal and a wonderful grandmother and will be sorely missed.”
Ms Bruce was part of the Boys’ Brigade 20th Aberdeen Company.
Ian Duff, the company’s captain, said: “The 20th Aberdeen Boys’ Brigade were devastated to hear the tragic news about Sherry Bruce.
“She was involved with our company for many years and was Officer in Charge of our youngest children in our Anchor section, who will be very sad to have lost her. We have lost a loyal friend.”
