Three cats were found starving in the garden of an abandoned house in Fife.
The Scottish SPCA were alerted by a landlord on Friday who voiced concerns about the animals.
The property has been empty since the beginning of the month, and neighbours had not been feeding the cats that were in the back garden.
The Scottish SPCA said the felines were all thin and “extremely hungry”, with evidence of a flea infestation.
The animal charity revealed that the cats were not microchipped and are now receiving care and attention from staff at one of their animal rescue and rehoming centres.
The public has been urged to contact the SSPCA if they recognise the cats or have any information on their circumstances.
Inspector, Kirsty Ferrier said: “On Friday morning we received a call from a landlord who was concerned about three cats who were found in the back garden of their empty property.
