Three people have been injured after a lorry spilt hazardous material near a Dundee industrial estate on Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to the Dunsinane Industrial Estate after reports of hazardous material impacting a lorry.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dispatched three appliances and specialist resources to the area.

Police Officers closed a number of roads including Kings Cross at Dunsinane Avenue, Kilspindle Road south of Dunsinane Avenue, Dunsinane Avenue west of junction with Kilspindle Road and Kinnoull Road at Craigowl Street.  

Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.

Three people were handed over to medical crews for treatment. Two were discharged at the scene and another was taken to Ninewells Hospital. Emergency services remain on the scene.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 12.41pm on Tuesday, May 13, to reports of hazardous materials affecting a lorry at Dunsinane Industrial Estate in Dundee.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and specialist resources to the scene.

“Three casualties were taken into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Crews remain in attendance.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service added: “We received a call at 12.56pm today to attend an incident at Dunsinane Industrial Estate.

“We dispatched our special operations team and three ambulances to the scene. We transported one patient to Ninewells while a further two patients were treated and discharged at the scene.”
