Trains have been cancelled at rush hour after a large emergency was called to Gleneagles station.

ScotRail advised passengers on Thursday morning that the line was blocked due to an ongoing incident, with journeys between Glasgow and Perth, Aberdeen and Inverness affected.

It is understood that a number of police, ambulance and Network Rail vehicles are on the scene.

The station is said to be closed, with emergency services turning people away from the platforms.

Services are subject to delays, alterations and cancellations, ScotRail said.

A ScotRail statement read: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident in the Gleneagles area, and unfortunately, that means we can’t run trains as the line is currently blocked.

“We’re working closely with the emergency services to get the line reopened, but we’ve no estimate for this at present.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call today at 7.13am to attend an incident at Gleneagles Railway station and dispatched one ambulance and our special operations team to the scene.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
