Two pensioners are in hospital in a serious condition after a multi-vehicle crash in Aberdeenshire on Thursday afternoon.
At around 2.15pm, police were called to a road crash on the A96 at Colpy involving a lorry and four cars.
The incident occurred on the Inverurie to Huntly road, near to Morgan McVeighs at Colpy.
A 74-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman from one of the cars were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where they are being treated for their injuries.
Hospital staff have described both of their conditions as serious.
The road was closed in both directions to allow a full investigation into the cause of the crash to take place and reopened to traffic at around 1.30am.
Sergeant Sarah Ritchie from the road policing unit at Inverurie said: “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash take place to contact us. I am also keen to obtain any dash-cam footage from drivers in the area at the time.
“Information should be passed to 101 with reference number 1686 of January 12.”
