Two other people were taken to hospital alongside a nine-year-old girl who was found injured at an industrial estate in Arbroath and later died.
The child, who was from West Yorkshire and had family camping in the area, was discovered at Elliot Industrial Estate shortly after midnight on Monday.
She was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she was pronounced dead. Her death is being treated as suspicious.
Three ambulances and a paramedic response unit were sent to the scene, and three patients were taken to hospital.
The condition and ages of the other two patients are unknown.
A man has been arrested in connection with the death of the nine-year-old.
Police have confirmed that the child and the 35-year-old, who is a white British man, were known to each other.
Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the girl’s death, but extensive investigations remain ongoing.
A Scottish Ambulance spokesperson said: “We received a call at 11.53pm on Sunday, August 2, to attend an incident at Elliot Industrial Estate, Arbroath.
“We dispatched three ambulances and a paramedic response unit (PRU) to the scene. We transported three patients to Ninewells Hospital.”
