Two teenagers have been charged after emergency distress flares were reportedly stolen from boats.
A number of the emergency devices were said to have been taken from boats in Arbroath Harbour between Saturday, June 1 and Monday, June 3.
Police had publicly appealed for witnesses to come forward to help find those responsible.
The force has now confirmed that two youths, aged 13 and 14, have been charged in relation to the thefts but say they believe more were involved.
Constable Watt from the Arbroath Community Policing Team said: “The two young people charged will be reported to the Youth Justice Assessor.
“We believe other young people were involved in this reckless behaviour and are following positive lines of enquiry in identifying them.”
