Stuart kennedyA warning has been issued after a whale carcass washed up on a beach in Angus.
Council officers were made aware of the deceased whale at Lunan Bay on Monday.
Local business Lunan Farm Campsite and Shop issued a warning to visitors and dogwalkers on social media.
The business urged people to keep their pets on a leash and away from the area for their safety.
Lunan House and Lunan Beach Bar & Cafe“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. Our café will be open as usual, offering a warm place to relax while you enjoy the coastal views from a safe distance,” they wrote.
Angus Council said an investigation is underway to decide what action is appropriate.
A council spokesperson said: “We assess each incidence of a stranded whale on an Angus beach according to its own particular circumstances.
“In consultation with stakeholders, such as SEPA and the Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme, we also draw from good practice and experience gained from previous incidents to ensure an appropriate solution is found.”
