People living in Tayside have been urged to do “everything they can” to break the chain of infection of Covid-19 in the area.
It comes after figures indicated that Dundee has the third highest rate of coronavirus cases per 100,000 in the UK, and the highest in Scotland.
NHS Tayside has said that the numbers of patients in hospital has been “slowly creeping up”, whilst calling for people to make sure that they get vaccinated when they are given their appointment.
People have also been reminded to get tested, keep up the two metre social distance and wear face coverings.
In a statement, the health board said: “Dundee remains the local authority most affected by Covid-19 in Scotland and we are seeing increasing numbers of people needing medical care and hospital admissions.
“Over the course of the pandemic, our clinical teams have been able to step up and step down specialist Covid-19 beds for inpatients as Ninewells has been responding to the number of patients requiring hospital care.
“Our frontline teams remain ready to respond but of course they would much rather prefer that they were not seeing more patients in hospital.
“It was only a matter of weeks ago that there were no patients in hospital, but the numbers have been slowly creeping up which is why the teams are making another plea to the people of Tayside to do everything they can now to act to break this chain of infection.”
