Dog walker elbowed in face after refusing to hand over phone

Police were called to a footpath near the River Almond in Perth after the woman was assaulted on Tuesday, November 8.

Police have launched an investigation after a woman was assaulted on a footpath near a river in Perth.

The woman, in her 50s, was elbowed in the face after refusing to hand over her mobile phone to a man while walking with another female and three dogs near Ruthvenfield Road around 7.30am on Tuesday, November 8.

The man, described as around 5ft 8in tall, of average build with a dark beard, left the area empty handed.

When last seen he was wearing a three-quarter length parker style jacket with a furry hood.

Police are now urging anyone witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened or who recognises the description of the man is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 3904 of Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

“Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
