A woman has been charged after a late night one-car crash in a coastal Aberdeenshire village.
At around 11.55pm on Tuesday, emergency services including police, lifeboats and the coastguard were called to the Seatown area of Gardenstown.
Images showed a Land Rover Freelander on its roof on the rocks after the vehicle appeared to have gone over the breakwater.
Police confirmed that a 49-year-old woman was arrested and has been charged in connection with a road traffic offence and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.55pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, police were called to the Seatown area of Gardenstown, following a report of a one-vehicle crash.
“A 49-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a road traffic offence and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A coastguard spokesman said: “HM Coastguard sent RNLI lifeboats and Coastguard Rescue Teams from Macduff and Fraserburgh to reports a car in the water at Gardenstown just after 11.55pm on Tuesday.
“As units were arriving at the scene, police confirmed the person who was in the car was already ashore.”
The RNLI has been contacted for comment.
