A woman is fighting for her life in hospital following a house fire in Forfar.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue service were called to the property on Kings Road around 4.20pm on Saturday.
Four appliances from Forfar and Dundee tackled the blaze for more than two hours.
Police said a 59-year-old woman was rescued from the house and taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance.
Her condition has been described as critical by medical staff.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.20pm on Saturday, 22 January, 2022, Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire at a house on Kings Road in Forfar.
“The fire was extinguished and a 59-year-old woman was removed from the premises before she was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance.
“Her condition is described as critical by medical staff.
“A joint police and fire investigation is ongoing to establish the case of the fire.”
