One woman has been charged with culpable homicide while another woman and a man have been charged with abduction and extortion.

Three people have appeared in court following the death of a man who fell from a block of flats in Dundee.

Emergency services were called to Morgan Street in Dundee on January 10 after reports that a 36-year-old had fallen from a window.

He was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment to serious injuries where he died a week later on Wednesday, January 17.

On Thursday, police confirmed a 38-year-old woman had been charged with culpable homicide.

Jennifer Souter, of Dundee, appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday and made no plea.

She was remanded in custody and is expected to next appear in court within eight days.

A 50-year-old man and 41-year-old woman were arrested and also appeared in court on Thursday..

Stephen Stewart and Victoria McGowan were charged with abduction and extortion.

The pair, both of Dundee, made no plea, were committed for further examination and released on bail.

It has not yet been confirmed when they will next appear in court.

Humza Yousaf’s brother-in-law, Ramsay El-Nakla, who is not one of those charged, was previously arrested in connection with the incident and released pending further investigations.

He is the brother of Yousaf’s wife Nadia El-Nakla.
