A woman was seriously injured when a suspension spring smashed through the windscreen of a pick-up truck in Angus.
The 47-year-old victim was a passenger in a silver VW Amarok when the leaf spring struck her on the A90 near Brechin at around 10.50am on Sunday.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with serious injuries.
Police said the incident happened on the southbound lane near the B966 junction.
Emergency services closed the road after the alarm was raised. It eventually reopened at 12.25pm.
Constable Derek Miller said: “The woman sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident.
“I am appealing for anyone who may have been driving in the area or may have dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation to contact police.”
