Woman raped as police launch hunt for unidentified man with beard

Police were called to the Cove area of Aberdeen after a woman was seriously sexually assaulted in a property on Saturday.

Police have launched a hunt for a man after a woman was raped in a property in Aberdeen.

Emergency services were called to a property on Charleston Road North in the Cove area of the city, after an unidentified man entered a property at around 9.15pm on Saturday before allegedly seriously sexually assaulting a woman in her 30s.

Officers have now launched a search for the suspect, described as white, around 6ft tall, of large build with a dark beard.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a black hooded jumper and shorts.

Police Scotland reassured the local community that an investigation is ongoing to identify the man involved, and have appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.

Detective inspector Mark Lambley said: “I would like to reassure the local community that a thorough investigation is ongoing to identify the man responsible for this attack.

“Police patrols are being carried out in the area and this will continue as our investigation progresses. Officers have been carrying out door to door inquiries and reviewing CCTV for any information which could help identify the man.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or saw a man matching this description to come forward, either by calling police or speaking to any of our officers.

“Anyone with information is being asked to call 101 quoting reference number 4394 of June 10 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
