A former SNP council leader has appeared in court charged with a string of sexual offences.
Jordan Linden, former member of the SNP and leader of North Lanarkshire Council until July 2022, appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday to face a total of 17 charges.
It comes after he was arrested on February 28 in connection with alleged sexual offences.
The offences against him include six charges of sexual assault and eight of indecent communication.
Linden, of Bellshill, is further charged with one count each of stalking and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
The 28-year-old made no plea or declaration during the hearing and was released on bail.
The date of his next appearance has yet to be set.
The 28-year-old was elected as an SNP member in 2017 and was made council leader in May 2022. He left the council in March last year and is no longer a party member.
His resignation led to the downfall of the minority SNP administration, with the Labour Party later taking over control of the council.
