John Swinney is facing First Minister’s Questions after it was revealed that the number of people in Scotland facing hunger and hardship has reached record levels.
The First Minister has faced calls to take urgent action to lift Scots out of poverty, including increasing the Scottish Child Payment to £40 a week.
The SNP is also facing backlash for its decision not to proceed with a free bus travel scheme for asylum seekers.
Patrick Harvie said the decision will have a “profound impact” on some of Scotland’s most vulnerable people.
Ministers had announced they would not proceed with the August plans for free asylum travel, blaming “very difficult decisions to deliver balanced and sustainable spending plans”.
