MSPs are set to be given a pay rise of more than £2,000, it has been confirmed.
The base salary of Scottish politicians at Holyrood will go up to £74,506 after the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body (SPCB) recommended a 3.2% increase.
The SPCB is a management body chaired by the Presiding Officer and includes four other elected members.
It said the pay rise aligned with inflation under the Average Weekly Earnings (AWE) index.
Changes in the rate of National Insurance introduced in the UK Government Budget means the cost of MSPs pay will increasing by £200,000.
The pay rise will see the total cost increase by £645,000.
Previously Holyrood politicians’ pay followed the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE Mean) but the SPCB said this had become “misaligned with other wage inflation indices in recent years”.
