The new leader of the Liberal Democrats Sir Ed Davey said he will be “mucking in” with workers at Fife Zoo during his first visit to Scotland since his election.
Sir Ed, who defeated Layla Moran to become the Lib Dem leader last month, will travel up to Scotland on Friday morning to meet zoo workers and take part in a socially-distanced canvassing session.
The visit is part of Sir Ed’s “listening tour” in which he aims to engage with voters across the United Kingdom.
Speaking ahead of the trip, Sir Ed said: “Liberal Democrats need to listen and learn which is why I am engaging with businesses and workers away from the media so that I can fully understand what their priorities are.
“I will be mucking in to live life in their shoes for the day.
“This country has faced many challenges in recent years from the recession to the pandemic to constitutional change.
“People’s aspirations have not dimmed and it is up to politicians to help people fulfil them.”
