Nicola Sturgeon is likely to face further questions about the Scottish Government’s response to the crisis engulfing the health service as First Minister’s Questions returns from its Christmas break.
The FM stood by health secretary Humza Yousaf in the wake of calls for his resignation over record A&E wait times and a bed blocking backlog leaving thousands waiting for care.
An £8m package of measures which included the Scottish Government purchasing hundreds of additional care beds was unveiled earlier this week, but the FM still faces questions over her record.
MSPs are due to return to the chamber on Thursday for the first time since the festive hiatus.
Sturgeon is also due to meet with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for face-to-face talks on the PM’s first visit to Scotland since taking office later in the day.
