The Prime Minister is facing MPs in the House of Commons amid outrage over the Government’s decision not to compensate women affected by the way changes to the state pension age were communicated.
WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality) campaigners branded the decision “absolutely disgusting” after the work and pensions secretary said paying a flat rate to women at a cost of up to £10.5bn would not be a fair or proportionate use of taxpayers’ money.
Liz Kendall came under fire from MPs and campaigners following the announcement on Tuesday, including from members of her own party.
On Wednesday, Keir Starmer will face questions about the decision in the final Prime Minister’s Questions before Christmas.
