Rishi Sunak is facing a grilling from MPs less than a week after it was revealed that a parliamentary researcher with links to the Tories had been arrested on suspicion of spying for China.
The man, in his 20s, was arrested in Edinburgh – at the same time another man in Oxfordshire was arrested – under the Official Secrets Act back in March.
The UK Government has faced questions over when it knew about the arrests, which were only made public on Saturday.
Ahead of Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs), the UK Government will be asked a number of questions about Scotland, including whether it would consider devolving drug laws to Holyrood.
PMQs comes just hours after data revealed the UK economy shrank in July by more than expected – with gross domestic product (GDP) falling by 0.5%.
The figures, from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), showed the health sector was impacted by further industrial action and retailers were knocked by wet weather.
