People in Scotland are Donald Trump’s biggest supporters in Western Europe, according to data.
The former Republican president is contesting the Presidential Election against Democratic candidate and current Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris.
Trump’s mother Mary MacLeod was born raised in Tong on the Isle of Lewis.
The 78-year-old, who owns the Menie Estate golf course in Balmedie near Aberdeen and the Trump Turnberry Hotel and Resort in Girvan, recently spoke out in favour of Scotland remaining as part of the UK.
Trump’s team hit back at First Minister John Swinney after he endorsed Harris, calling his comments “appalling.”
But YouGov figures found 21% of 184 people surveyed in Scotland were in favour of the American tycoon winning the election, higher than 17% in England and 14% in Wales.
While 64% were in favour of Harris winning according to YouGov, a poll by Norstat found a quarter of Scots surveyed were backing Trump among 1,011 people surveyed.
Norstat found 56% supported Harris in Scotland with Italy – according to YouGov – the only country with less backing for the Democratic candidate at 46%.
More than half (52%) of men between the ages of 16 and 34 surveyed in Scotland said they would prefer if Trump became President compared to 40% for Harris.
For women in the same category, it was 54% for Harris and 15% for Trump.
Nearly 70% of women in Scotland aged 55 or over surveyed are backing Harris, while only 14% would support the Republican nominee.
In the UK as whole, YouGov found 61% say they want Harris to triumph, compared to 16% for her Republican rival.
Americans go to the polls on Tuesday, November 5 with the first polls closing at 11pm UK time.
