Douglas Ross is set to make his return to football officiating this weekend in the Premier Sports Cup.
The Scottish Conservatives’ leader will run the line in Queen of the South’s Group F meeting with Elgin City at Borough Briggs on Saturday.
Ross, who is also an MP for Moray, has not taken part in any footballing activity since January 2021 but will assist referee Steven Kirkland.
He suffered an injury more than 18 months ago which kept him out of the game.
His role has previously proved controversial after he missed a Commons vote for one game and later failed to declare his earnings from it.
Ross previously said he would no longer accept appointments while parliament is sitting in order to avoid such clashes.
However, both Holyrood and Westminster are currently in recess.
