The SNP’s chief whip has stood aside while the party investigates reports of alleged sexual harassment.

Patrick Grady, MP for Glasgow North, stepped down from his post after the party received a formal complaint against him.

Grady was named by The Herald after the paper published details from letters it had obtained relating to the allegations against the MP.

An investigation into the complaint is now under way.

An SNP spokesperson said: “The SNP has today received a formal complaint. That now allows due process to take place and we will not be commenting further while an investigation is underway.”
