At least three Belgian soldiers have been injured whilst conducting a training exercise in Scotland on Monday.
Prime Minister of Belgium, Bart De Wever, confirmed the troops are part of the Third Parachute Battalion.
He wished those injured during the incident a speedy recovery.
The Belgian Prime Minister said: “The sad news reached me that three soldiers of the Third Parachute Battalion were injured during an exercise in Scotland.
“I wish the victims a speedy recovery. My condolences to their loved ones.”
The country’s Minister of Defence, Theo Francken, confirmed that “a number were injured” following an incident during the exercise.
He added that the armed forces do as much as possible to “protect” soldiers during training, however, “sometimes things go wrong”.
No UK armed forces were involved in the incident.
A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident during an exercise in Scotland involving foreign national military personnel. Our thoughts are with all those affected.”
