ITVThe body of a man who got into difficulty at a loch in Dumfries and Galloway has been recovered by rescuers.
Crews from HM Coastguard, Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to the scene at Loch Ken Holiday Park on Sunday following reports of a 28-year-old man going missing in the water.
Emergency responders – including lifeboat teams from Nith and the coastguard’s rescue helicopter – spent hours searching the nine-mile long loch without success.
Police confirmed the man’s body had been discovered during a follow-up search operation on Tuesday afternoon.
There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and the man’s next of kin had been informed, however formal identification is yet to take place.
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A body was found in Loch Ken around 1.50 pm on Tuesday, June 20, following a search for a man seen in difficulty on Sunday, June 18.
“His next of kin have been informed but formal identification has still to take place.
“The death is not believed to be suspicious and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
