Coronavirus: No deaths as 3893 fresh cases recorded

A further 3893 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Scotland, according to official figures.

The test positivity rate is 14.1%, up from the 13.5% reported on Sunday.

Of the new cases reported on Monday, 1324 are in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region, 639 are in Lanarkshire, 628 are in Lothian and 337 are in Ayrshire and Arran.

The rest of the cases are spread out across nine other health board areas.

In a note, the Scottish Government said it was continuing to see a “larger proportion of specimens reported that were processed more than 48 hours ago”.

A total of 551 people were in hospital on Sunday with recently confirmed Covid-19, a rise of 44 overnight. Out of those, 52 patients are in intensive care.

No further deaths were reported.

The lab-confirmed death toll of those who tested positive within the previous 28 days currently stands at 8111, however figures including suspected Covid-19 deaths recorded by National Records of Scotland suggest the most up-to-date total is now at least 10,505.

It was also confirmed that 4,103,687 Scots have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, an increase of 2376 from the day before.

A total of 3,668,041 people have received their second dose, a rise of 12,754.
