Ten people have died and 6711 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Scotland in the last 24 hours.

Official statistics showed that as of Thursday, 653 people were in hospital with the virus, with 60 patients in intensive care.

Of 58,534 new tests for coronavirus that reported results, 12.1% of those were positive.

Just over 4.1 million people in Scotland have had their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, whilst around 3.7m have had their second dose.

It comes after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announcedearlier this week that vaccine passports will be introduced.

It will mean that proof of vaccination will be needed to enter nightclubs and large events.

Sturgeon has expressed that she does not want to reimpose restrictions “even in a limited way”, despite a rise in case numbers.
