A third patient in Scotland diagnosed with Covid-19 has died, the Scottish Government has confirmed.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “It is with sadness this afternoon that I have to confirm the death of one more patient.”
She said her thoughts were with the families of those who have died.
As of Wednesday, there are 227 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across Scotland – a rise of 32 from 195 in the last 24 hours.
In the UK as a whole, there are now 2626 coronavirus cases – an increase of 676, nearly a third, in 24 hours.
A total of 104 people diagnosed with the disease have now died, including the latest death in Scotland and 32 more in England.
In Greater Glasgow and Clyde, there are now 57 cases – a rise of eight since Tuesday, when the second Scottish patient death from coronavirus was announced in the health board area.
In Lothian, where the first patient death occurred, there are now 33 cases, an increase of three.
There are 25 Covid-19 patients in Lanarkshire, 24 in Lanarkshire and Tayside each, 16 in Shetland and 15 in Forth Valley.
All other health board areas remain in single figures, while there are still no cases reported in Orkney or the Western Isles.
