Coronavirus: Two more deaths and 800 cases overnight

Another two people with coronavirus have died in Scotland, as the country recorded 800 new cases overnight.

It brings the death toll under the measure of people who first tested positive within the previous 28 days to 4111.

5868 deaths have been registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The latest daily figures were revealed by the Scottish Government on Sunday.

The daily test positivity rate is 5.2%, the same figure as the previous day.

Of the new cases, 179 are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 139 in Lothian, 116 in Lanarkshire and 80 in Grampian.

There are 1015 people in hospital confirmed to have the virus.

Of these patients, 47 are in intensive care.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon urged Scots to continue to adhere to Covid-19 restrictions, tweeting: “Please continue to take care and avoid interacting with other households as much as possible.

“We are not out of the Covid woods yet. Cases are increasing in many countries, and the situation in Scotland still requires caution.”
