Aldi has pulled tubs of ice cream from its shelves over a potential allergy risk.

The supermarket has recalled Gianni’s Cheeky Monkey Ice Cream because it contains undeclared wheat (gluten), which is not mentioned on the label.

The recall notice, issued via the Food Standards Agency, says the ice cream is a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat (gluten).

The recall affects pack sizes of 500ml and products with a best-before of August 14, 2027.

Customers who have purchased the chunky chocolate and marshmallow ice cream and have a wheat or gluten allergy or intolerance should not eat it.

Instead, they should return the product to their nearest Aldi store for a full refund.

The supermarket apologised that the product did not meet Aldi’s “normal high standards”.

The recall notice specifically affects England, Scotland, and Wales.
