Free-from breadcrumbs have been pulled from Tesco shelves over allergy fears.

The supermarket issued an alert via the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and is recalling all date and batch codes of Tesco Free From Breadcrumbs.

The product contains wheat (gluten) which is not mentioned on the label, making it a health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease.

Tesco apologised to customers and said none of its other products are affected by the recall.

A Tesco statement read: “If you have purchased the affected product and have an allergy or intolerance to wheat (gluten), please do not eat it and return it to any Tesco store for a full refund.

“No receipt is required.

“No other Tesco products are affected by this recall. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
