Waitrose has pulled hot cross buns from the shelves over allergy fears.
The supermarket giant issued a recall notice via the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on its packs of four richly fruited hot cross buns, affecting England, Scotland and Wales.
The recall notice is due to the product containing barley, which is not declared on the label.
It affects pack sizes with a best-before date of June 6.
Customers who have bought the above product and have an allergy to barley are urged not to eat it.
Instead, they should return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund, with no receipt required.
A Waitrose statement read: “We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”
